Trans Tasman Cup
PSNZ Wins Trans Tasman Competition for 2010
PSNZ won all three Categories this year in the annual competition between the New Zealand Photographic Society and that of Australia. We don’t often manage that but our choice of images for this years event must have been spot on.
The three categories were:
- Open Prints (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain Trophy)
- Open Projected Image (Cook Bicentenary Plaque)
- Nature Section, prints and projected images (Banks Trophy)
The judging was done in New Zealand this year but all images were scrambled to make it harder for the judges to determine where an image came from.
Because only 30 images were needed from PSNZ members for this inter society competition, we received images by “invite only” with no entry form. Images selected came to the organizers‘ notice by receiving high awards in other salons or competitions.
All prints were displayed as mounted A3 size and as the judging was done just before the National Convention in Nelson, they were put on display in the same venue as the Natex display.
Three PSNZ members were awarded Bronze Medals for their excellent images. They were:
- Liz Hardley APSNZ of Auckland Photographic Society for her image of “The Agony and the ecstasy”
- Gearoid O‘Sullivan APSNZ of Dunedin Photographic Society for his image titled “White Ibis”
- Neil Gordon of Kapiti Camera Club also received a Bronze Medal for his image called “Jazzman”
An Audio Visual of this competition will be shown when the Medals are presented at the 2011 National Convention in North Shore.
