NZ Camera is a showcase of outstanding photographs recently produced by members of the Photographic Society of New Zealand. It shows a unique vision of our world as seen through the eyes of our photographers.
Each year, individual members of the Society are invited to submit images for possible inclusion in the Society’s annual showcase, New Zealand Camera.
The final selection of these 168 images was made from over 700 entries submitted by 370 members. Many of these images have received recognition in the PSNZ national and regional salons during the year and in competitions organised by member clubs and societies.
Most of the photographs were made in New Zealand; however the book also includes images made by members travelling overseas and also from some overseas members.
The images are preceded with a display of work from the Society’s ‘Permanent Collection’ which has been collected over the Society’s 54 years and many of the contributors are now famous names amongst the pioneers of New Zealand photography.
Superbly presented, these breathtaking pictures are interspersed with quotations inviting deeper reflection on the ideas behind the images – and on the art of seeing and photography.
