What does it take to become a PSNZ Accredited Judge?

Hopefully most Club members know what a PSNZ Accredited Judge is and where to find the list of current judges ( hint - it’s in the PSNZ directory ) but many may not know what it takes to become one and how to go about applying.

If you are thinking of becoming a PSNZ Accredited Judge then these are the criteria you will need to meet:

  • have experience of club judging for a number of different clubs
  • demonstrate very good communication skills
  • have an in-depth knowledge of photographic trends and techniques
  • express a positive attitude to assessing others work to help them to improve
  • have an ability to view an image and assess it briefly on more than just the technical aspects of the image

Once you are ready to apply it is very simple – just email Robyn Forryan ref@xtra.co.nz and I will send you all the information you require. The process is relatively simple – you will be sent a portfolio of prints which you will assess and comment on and return it with a portfolio of your own work if required. The PSNZ Judge Assessment Panel will convene and listen to your assessment and then inform you if your name is to be put forward to Council for approval or not.

If you are an experienced club judge who is looking to take your judging further please contact me (Robyn Forryan) now – my inbox awaits your mail.
