PSNZ Canon Bi-monthly Online Competition – Rules
The Canon Online bi-monthly competition is open to PSNZ or Club Members to submit images in digital format. The competition has proved popular with more than 100 submissions for the previous round.
Who and What
- Members or Club members submit one image (OPEN subject) per author bi-monthly as a file for IBM compatible PC.
- Open subject can be any image taken by the author using a film camera or digital.
- The image can be enhanced, manipulated, or just as it was taken.
- All work must be that of the entrant (a computer generated fractural will not be accepted).
- The required format is to be 1024 pixels for the larger side of the picture at a resolution of 72 Dpi in a JPEG file format.
How
- Images to be sent to Bill Hodges.
- The covering E-mail should have:
- – the author’s name
- – title and,
- – image file number
- – Club affiliation and contact details.
- – PSNZ Honours, if any i.e. LPSNZ, APSNZ etc
- The attached image in the above format, for sorting purposes, should be identified with the first letter of month entered plus the first two initials of your surname. e.g. February entry for Hodges would be FHO01 and an April entry would be AHO01.
When
- Images are to be sent bi-monthly by the end of February, April, June, August, October and December i.e. six entries per author a year.
Judging
- At the end of each bi-monthly competition the co-ordinator will put all the images received on to a disk and send them to be judged by a person of the coordinator’s choosing. This is normally a member with APSNZ or FPSNZ or who is on the PSNZ Panel
- Each author will receive one point for entering. The top ten images will receive the following points plus the one for entering: First place 10, second 9, third 8, fourth 7, fifth 6, sixth 5, seventh 4, eighth 3, ninth 2, tenth 1.
- The winner of each round will also receive a trophy.
- At the end of December the author who has received the most points over the year will be the Canon PSNZ Internet Photographer of the Year and will receive the award from Canon at our annual Conference.
- If there is more than one author on the same number of points at the end of the year, the top point-scoring image from the entries throughout the year will be rejudged. The top image will receive one point giving that author the winning points for the trophy.
Reproduction
- Copyright of all work remains the property of the author.
- The PSNZ reserves the right to reproduce for publicity (free of charge) or any other purposes relating to this competition from any submitted image or images.
- At the end of each bi-monthly competition the results may be e-mailed to all the participants. Results and the winning images will be sent to the editor of CameraTalk. The winning bi-monthly images will be published on the PSNZ website.
- At the end of the year a CD Rom slide show will be produced with all 6 rounds top ten images submitted throughout the year. This may be shown at the Convention. This CD will be available for purchase at a small cost.
