Bledisloe Cup – Recent Results
At the recent PSNZ Convention in Timaru, Wellington Photographic Society (WPS) was presented with the Bledisloe Interclub Print Trophy for 2008 for submitting the best set of 6 prints. The trophy was donated in 1932 by the then Governor of New Zealand Lord Bledisloe, and has been competed for by photographic clubs every year since, except 1958. Lord Bledisloe was also patron of the Wellington Camera Club (the forerunner of WPS).
The last time Wellington held the trophy was in 1953 (55 years ago).
Over a period from 1942 and 1953 (12 years) Wellington won the Bledisloe trophy no less than 8 times, thanks to such luminary members as James Chapman-Taylor, E.T. Robson and Johnny Johnson.
